Tripping device

The tripping device processes the signals issued by the fire alarms and trips the connected close-off device in case a certain threshold value of a fire characteristics value is exceeded.

Fire alarm

Fire alarms are part of a close-off system, which continuously or in subsequent time intervals measure a suitable physical and/or chemical characteristics value for the identification of a fire in the area to be monitored and report these values to the tripping device.

Power supply

The energy supply is used for the electrical supply of fire alarms, tripping devices, close-off systems and possibly auxiliary equipment.

Close-off device

Close-off devices are devices that maintain the energy in a stored condition required for closing. Common close-off devices are electromagnetic systems such as magnetic clamps, solenoid valves and magnetic couplings.

Close-off systems (FSA)

A combination of compatible components that have the function to keep self-closing fire/smoke protection doors open and to trip them in case of a fire at the earliest possible time for self-closing.

Clearance device

Device used for the clearance of the closure areas of the conveyance system closures.

Transport goods

Goods, materials, substances that are directly transported or moved with conveyance systems in special containers.

Note: While goods are objects with larger dimensions, materials and substances can have sizes that range from large volume objects up to the smallest particles such as chips and suspended solids.

Delivery system

Permanently installed or movable hauling tracks including pneumatic as well as hydraulic conveyance systems to perform transport works on specified transport paths.

Conveyance system closure (CSC)

Controlled connections with a defined basic position that close in case of fire openings of fire resistance capable, room closing components such as walls and ceilings through which conveyance systems and track bound transport systems are guided.

Note: Conveyance system closures consist among others of parts (e.g. frames, guide rails, running rails) permanently connected with the building parts (walls or ceilings), one or several movable parts (e.g. slides, flaps, leafs) as well as the equipment, fittings and interlockings for the fastening, guidance, handling, opening, closing and clearance.

Hauling track

Equipment that guides and possibly moves the transport goods.

Function conforming closing

The automatic and safe closing of the opening in case of fire under consideration of all possible failure influences.

Alarm group (previously: alarm line)

The alarm group is a compilation of fire alarms for which a dedicated display for messages and failures is provided at the display equipment. However, the alarm group can also only include one alarm.

Closing direction

Movement direction of mobile parts of the conveyance system closures into the “closing positions”.

Closing range

Range that must be cleared or kept free for the closing of the conveyance system closures.

Close-off device

Close-off devices are devices suitable to automatically close mobile closures possibly even after the failure of the external energy. Current devices include:

  • Own weight
  • Counterweight systems (closure weights)
  • Cut-off springs
  • Spring rope rollers (energy stored in springs)
  • Door closer with hydraulic damping (TS) as per DIN 18263 part 1 to 3
  • Automatic door closer (ATS)

Anchoring

Fastening devices of the conveyance system closures used to fasten these systems function-conforming at the construction parts of the building.
